Gestures between shelter and expanse, sites and surroundings, re-culturing and re-wilding, technology and perspectives, land and horizon, the enclosed and the open.
The spaces and territories in which we live are changing: housing and economic pressures, conservation and global warming, political spatial justice and equity.
Mainly, our work aims to explore the possibilities for new relationships between people, based on these changing lands.
Our techniques are structural, spatial, ecological. The approach is always political, historical, mythical.
We are a research and design studio based in Tel Aviv-Jaffa. Projects range from temporary interactive installations to public policies and analysis; from buildings and open spaces to regional urbanism and infrastructure. The studio team includes architects, landscape architects, urban planners and parametric modelling specialists working together on every project. Interior, interactive and industrial designers are often an integral part of the team. Clients include the Arab and Jewish municipalities, private clients, government and non-governmental organisations.
As we believe that architecture has a social role, we regularly initiate communal projects and research, such as the first swimming centre for the Negev Bedouins.
Matanya Sack is an architect and landscape architect. She was awarded a Bachelor of Architecture from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, in 2005, and Masters in Advanced Studies in Landscape Architecture from the ETH in Zurich. She was the recipient of the American Society of Landscape Architects Award of Excellence in 2009 for her work at the ETH.
Between 2009-2013 Matanya co-led the "City/State" final thesis unit at Bezalel. In 2014 she founded "LandBasics" - the final thesis program at the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa. The studio addresses fundamental issues in the Israeli landscape space, and proposes new visions through landscape tools.
Uri Reicher is an architect. He graduated with Honours from Bezalel in 2005. Between 2006 - 2011 he worked for Foster + Partners in London. As an Associate, he led the design of cultural campuses and mixed-used towers, in Moscow, Shanghai and more. Uri specialised advanced sustainable architecture, focusing on envelopes, concert halls, and exhibition spaces.
